Don't like it
I've decided to work some more on my layout. I'm not sure that purple is my color. I'm at a loss, though, as to what colors I should use as I HATE the layouts provided with our new blogs. They don't work and are not as customizable as 20six makes them out to be.
Also, I hate not receiving emails when my favorite blogs are updated. I find that I haven't read any of them in ages and I don't like it. Why can I no longer click on a link on someone's blog and start receiving emails when said blog has been updated? And how on earth does this RSS thing work? Is that the same thing?
I'm not liking this new system. Not at all.
Tell me, do the paid subscribers get all these things? Would blogging improve if I subscribed??

Katja / Website (18.6.06 14:31) Nicola, RSS is exactly the same. If you click on subscribe on your friends' blogs then you should receive an email every time they update. Alternatively, you could use a service like Bloglines, which is a very useful tool. This picks up the feeds for your favourite blogs and updates them all in a central place. You can log in to it from any computer and it's free, so really what more do you need? If you want try a layout which is more customisable, go to layoutdealer.com. Pete has designed some plain layouts especially for the UK version of 20six and you can customise these to your heart's content. To change the colours you will need to use a colour palette picker, such as this one. You simply choose the colour that you want, then copy the hex code into the relevant place in the code of your chosen layout. In answer to your final question, paying for subscription simply gives you more webspace and also removes the ads from your site. They don't get preferential treatment in any other aspect. Hope some of this is helpful to you.
