Frustrated

We're a bit frustrated at the moment because of dental care.  I'm not sure how other people afford it!

Neither Stephen, myself or Ruth have seen a dentist since arriving back to Canada and we're finding it a daunting prospect.  We knew of the cost involved and have been putting it off as a result. But our sense of responsibility toward Ruth, who is still a minor, dictates that we can no longer ignore the issue.

I called around to some dentist's offices today for prices and here what I found out.  All prices are approximate, as they vary from dentist to dentist:

Initial visit (includes check-up, x-rays and cleaning):  $175 to $300
6-monthy visit (includes check-up, x-rays and cleaning): $120 to $180
Fillings (varies greatly because of location of tooth and which surface):  $100 to $300
Wisdom tooth extraction (again, depends on level of difficulty):  $100 to $300

See?  The prices are crazy!  And the Canadian government does nothing to help out withy these costs.  Although our income means we're getting by, we are by no means wealthy.  It looks like Ruth will go to the dentist first, then, if we can afford it, Stephen and I will consider going.

Obviously, I'll make sure I brush and floss twice a day!

Good God - and I thought private dental care in the UK was expensive!
