Ages!

Wow!  I haven't written in my blog since January 29th!  One would imagine that I'd dropped off the face of the earth!  But, good news - I'm here!!!  Good for whom, you ask.  Good question...

Well, let's see... what's new to write about...   I was recently told off (well, not really) for writing too many movie reviews in my Baby Blog so I won't tell you about the movies I've seen.  And I won't tell you all the gruesome details of our possible relocation.  Again.  I'll wait for the details to be ironed out on that but suffice to say that we aren't entirely happy with where we're living and are consider another move for this summer.

But I will write a bit about our darling Jake, who is almost 23 months old!  Amazing how time flies.  I watch him jump around the house, bouncing off the walls and scaling furniture effortlessly, and I can't believe how big and strong he is.  He's hardly the little bundle of joy that I carried for 8 short months!

Jake is now taller and slimmer.  Long gone is the baby cheeks, replaced by leaner good looks.  He still has his Daddy's big blue eyes that squeeze my heart every time he looks at me and a bit of a wide nose, just like his Mum.

He's very 'boy'.  Everything must be climbed, jumped upon, stomped on, hit or rammed with toys.  Nothing is left where is was or should be.  Toys, furniture and even people are shoved to where Jake would prefer them.  An example of his furniture-moving abilities is that he likes to push his bed away from the wall and shove it all the way across the room.  If the bedroom door had been a bit wider, I'm sure we'd find his crib in the hall!  And no matter how many times we put it back, he giggles and pushes it out again.

His people-moving abilities are funny, at times.  He doesn't like it when Stephen and I cuddle.  Whether we're sitting or standing, Jake will always get between us and, with a hand on each of our chests, he will slowly, but forcefully, push us apart.  Cheeky thing!

We've started a weekly trip to the local Early Learning Centre with him now and he seems to enjoy it.  The problem seems to lie in that, like at home, he'd rather play with the toilet seat than with toys.  We keep the bathroom door closed at home but the people at the ELC don't seem to hold that as a priority... which is strange to me as there are 20 or 30 toddlers running around and it isn't unheard of for a toddler to drown in a toilet.

Jake though is still not talking.  He's clever in so many ways that I can only believe that he doesn't want to.  He definitely understands us when we talk to him, like "bathtime" or "juice" or "bedtime" or "book", etc...  He understands, but won't try to speak.  We're still just getting a lots of "mamamama" or "dadada" or "bebebe" and plenty of other interesting noises and squeals.

And that's about it in the world of Jake.
