Friday night, we rented War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise and directed by Steven Spielberg. Loved it! Fast-paced and thoroughly nail-biting. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through without a moment's break. If he wasn't being attacked by aliens, he was being hunted by aliens. If he wasn't running and freaking out, he was couched and cowering, waiting to be killed.
Most alien movies are pretty cheesy, in my opinion. But this one had cool aliens. Scary aliens! Believable aliens.
I didn't think I was going to like this one, but I did. Recommended.

(30.1.06 14:21) I think I am the only person I know who DIDN'T like that movie. Hubby loved it, everyone I talk to loved, I hated it. It could have something to do with the fact that I cant' stand Tom Cruise any more and every word he says makes my skin crawl. That would tarnish my view of anything he's in wouldn't it? Good luck on the baby making, it was much eaiser for us to get #2 than #1! Here's a sweetie to help ;o) |

(30.1.06 16:34) #2? Ummmm... well, it's what I want. We'll just have to wait and see! youngmummy - I'm not a Tom Cruise fan either. But I found it quite easy to get past that for this movie. That is probably because I feel that other actors (perhaps Nicholas Cage, or Joachim Pheonix, or even John Travolta) could have filled the role equally well. TC just wasn't a focal point for me. |
