Life was so much easier when he was a newborn!
Over the last few weeks, we've come to realize that the days of laying Jake down and changing his nappy peacefully are looooooooong gone. No longer can we deposit him gently on the couch and start the changing process while he looks up lovingly at us. No way.
Now, the process starts with my trying to find something interesting on TV for him to watch. This has to be commercials/ads. Nothing else grabs and holds his attention for more than a few seconds. Ad breaks are generally about 3 minutes long, I think, so I know that I have enough time to get the job done. Then I lay him down and get to work.
Dressing and undressing him is fun now too. If I'm taking his shirt off, he gets very agitated when his arms are out of the sleeves but the shirt is still around his neck. He pulls at it himself, trying to get the shirt off over his head. Trousers? Well, I've no sooner got the first leg in and the second one on the way, when Jake goes and pulls the first leg out. Very frustrating.

But isn't he cute?

Julie / Website (20.12.05 09:55) Oh My God!! He's the cutest!! I can't believe how grown up he looks here. He's no longer a baby, he's a real little person. What a cute little guy! But hey, where are the chubby cheeks? (Snowy greetings from France |

(20.12.05 11:25) Thank you! I think he's gorgeous too... not that that's surprising. I am biased, I'm sure. The chubby cheeks? Yeah, they went away a few months back. Now he's got slimmer cheeks, slimmer arms and slimmer legs. Still sporting the beer gut though!

(21.12.05 01:02) I can totally relate. Although my daughter is only 15 months, she too is an absolute terror when it comes to changing her. She wiggles and kicks (my very pregnant belly) with a fury. I am always amazed at the fact that she doesnt understand that we do this 10 times a day and that kicking never changes the fact. I guess thats kids for you. Your boy is a cutie. Good luck with changing... its nice to know I am not the only one with a wiggle bum ;o) |
